Why did you choose teaching? I decided at age 8 that my mission in life was to become a teacher. I love children and want to see them succeed. My parents are both retired educators.

What is your favorite part of being a teacher? My favorite part of being in education is seeing needs within our school and community and finding a way to meet those needs. I love how our staff works together with parents to make a difference.

What do you like to do in your free time? In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and woodworking.

Message from the Principal:

Welcome to Kathryn Senor Elementary School!

We are so excited that your child will be attending KSE. As a staff, we are committed to gaining a deep understanding of your child and help them learn to the best of their potential. As a parent, you have a great responsibility and are the most influential person in your child's life. We are excited to partner with you to make your elementary experience the best that it can be. Our school will provide many opportunities for you to learn alongside your child and also gain knowledge of raising children in this day and age.

One of the many things that I love about KSE is how we strive to be innovative. Our teachers have earned the honor of being one of the first schools in the world to go through a T3 Innovator training to become a T1 Innovation School. That means that each teacher in our building dedicated 15 hours of additional study to learn what it means to be an innovative teacher. I am so proud of our staff at KSE. What does it mean to be an innovative teacher? It means that our teachers are seeking out innovative ways to meet the needs of our students. They are committed to guiding students through personalized and project based learning. They are seeking out ways to teach your child in new and engaging ways to help them love learning and desire to be life-long learners.

Your child will be challenged at KSE to solve wicked problems that matter, think critically when solving those problems, collaborate with other students, gain digital literacy skills, and set individual goals to measure success. We want your child to be excited when they walk through our doors. We want to provide an educational environment to help every student be successful.

Our KSE teachers will be communicating with you through our PowerSchool system, the Remind App, and through sharing student portfolios. Parents will be able to access student grades and be able to keep up with how the student is doing in the classroom. At the elementary level, we focus on the standards in our grading, so reporting might seem a little confusing and different than the traditional letter grades. We want to support you as parents in understanding how a classroom teacher grades out on assignments. We will host classes for parents throughout the year on various topics, including the PowerSchool system.

Finally, we are present on Facebook and Twitter. You will be able to get a picture of what goes on at KSE by following our feed on either Facebook or Twitter (@ksehawks)
